Unlock The Bible is built so that what you share about your life stays yours. There are no accounts, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number. This policy explains what the app does with the little information it handles. It applies wherever you live, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
Who we are
Unlock The Bible is made by Alquimia Studio (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at the contact below.
What stays on your phone
Everything you write about your life, your walks, your check-ins, your notes and your saved verses are stored only on this phone. We can’t see them. Deleting the app deletes them.
The Bible tab, the reader and your saved verses work without internet. The whole King James Bible is inside the app, so reading and searching never leave your phone.
Your reminder time and app settings are stored on this phone.
What we process, and why
The sentence you type is sent securely to our server to choose a Bible person and verse for you. Our server does not save it or write it to logs.
To choose the Bible person and write the short personal explanation, that sentence is sent to our AI provider, OpenAI, and sent a second time so the story can be checked against the Bible text before you see it. OpenAI processes it under its API data policy, and it is not used to train OpenAI’s models. We never send your ID or your device details with it, only which Bible people and verses you had recently, so you get something new.
An anonymous ID. The app creates a random ID with no name, email or phone number attached. There is no account and no sign-in. We use it to limit how many requests one phone can make.
Request counts tied to that ID, kept only in our server’s memory (never in a database) for up to 30 days, to keep the service fair for everyone.
Your IP address. Like any internet service, our server and its hosting provider see the IP address of each request. We use it only to limit how many new IDs one network can create, kept in memory for up to one hour. In some places, including the EU and the UK, an IP address counts as personal data, so we mention it here.
Subscriptions. Payments are handled by Apple. Your subscription status is kept by RevenueCat under your anonymous ID and checked on your phone. We never see your payment details.
Notifications and the widget
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. They never include what you wrote.
The lock screen and home screen widget only receives this week’s verse, its reference and the Bible person’s name. Never your sentence.
What we don’t do
No ads. No tracking across apps or websites. No analytics that read what you write.
We do not sell your information or share it for advertising, including cross-context behavioral advertising. This applies in full to residents of California and other US states with similar privacy laws.
How long we keep data
On your phone: until you delete it or delete the app.
On our server: what you type is not kept at all. Request counts last up to 30 days and IP counts up to one hour, in memory only.
OpenAI may keep what you send for up to 30 days to check for abuse, under its API data policy, then deletes it. RevenueCat keeps data under its own policies. Your anonymous ID may stay in RevenueCat’s purchase records until you ask us to delete it.
International transfers
OpenAI and RevenueCat are based in the United States, and our server runs there too. If you use the app from the EU, the UK or Canada, the data described above is processed in the United States. For OpenAI, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses under the Data Processing Addendum we have signed with OpenAI. For our other providers, we rely on the safeguards each one offers for international transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where they apply.
Security
Everything sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit. Your anonymous ID and its token are kept in the iOS Keychain. There are no passwords or payment details to steal, because the app has no accounts.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your data, and to object to or limit some processing. EU and UK residents can also complain to their local data protection authority. Canadian residents can contact us or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Because we keep no account or profile tied to you, most requests are handled by deleting the app. To have your anonymous ID removed from RevenueCat, or for anything else, email us.
Deleting the app does not cancel an App Store subscription. Do that in your Apple ID settings.
Automated processing
The Bible person, the explanation and the suggested steps are chosen with the help of AI. They are encouragement only and have no legal or similar effect on you.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country, if higher). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has used the app and sent us information, email us and we will remove what we can.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. Using the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
