Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Coin AI is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts and we do not ask for your name, email, or any personal profile. This policy explains what the app does with the limited information it handles, and applies to users everywhere, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

Who we are

Coin AI is developed by Alquimia Studio ("we", "us"), which acts as the data controller for the limited information described in this policy. You can reach us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

No account, anonymous ID

Instead of an account, the app generates a random anonymous identifier the first time you open it. It is stored on your device and sent with scan requests only for rate limiting and caching. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other identity information. Our servers also process the IP address of each request as part of normal network communication and abuse prevention; in some jurisdictions (including the EU and UK) an IP address is itself considered personal data, which is why it is covered here.

What stays on your device

Your collections, saved coins, scan history and the photos you capture are stored locally on your device. We do not host a copy of your collection on our servers.

Coin identification and third-party processors

When you scan an item, the photo is sent to our backend, which uses AI vision (OpenAI) to identify and grade it and queries public market sources (eBay) and a coin catalog (Numista) to estimate value and technical details. Photos are used only to process that request and are not used to advertise to you. Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms and may briefly retain request data (for example, to detect abuse), independent of our own retention described below.

International data transfers

Our service providers (OpenAI, eBay, and RevenueCat) are based in the United States. If you use the app from the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Canada, this means your scan and subscription data is transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on the safeguards each provider has in place for international transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where applicable.

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are processed by RevenueCat and the Apple App Store. Billing and receipt validation are handled by them under their own privacy terms; we receive only your anonymous subscription status.

How long we keep data

Locally stored data (collections, history, photos) stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. On our servers, scan results are cached for up to 24 hours to avoid re-processing the same image, and then removed automatically. We do not keep a long-term, identifiable log of your scans on our servers.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell or share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not show third-party advertising inside the app. This applies in full to residents of California and other US states with similar privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah).

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. EU and UK residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. Canadian residents may contact our designated privacy contact below or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (or, in Quebec, the CAI). Because we do not hold an account or profile tied to your identity, most requests can be handled simply by deleting data in the app or uninstalling it; for anything else, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

Coin AI is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and provided data to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

Automated processing

Identification, grading, and value estimates are generated automatically by AI and market data, but they are informational only and have no legal or similarly significant effect on you — you decide what to do with them. They are not a form of automated decision-making that produces legal effects.

Security

Data sent between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit. We do not store payment details, passwords, or other account secrets, since the app does not use accounts.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives on your device, removing it is in your control: delete coins and collections in the app, clear your scan history, or uninstall the app to remove everything stored locally. To request deletion of anything on our side (such as a cached scan result), contact us below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the "last updated" date above when we do; continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
